Position: Assistant Chief Engineer
Overview:
Dallas-based Syndicated Broadcasting and Digital Company targeting the African-American community is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to be responsible for technical coverage of syndicated radio broadcasting programs.
Candidate will be responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer with implementing technology, both software and infrastructure that supports company analog, digital and streaming operations. The successful candidate will align actions with company and departmental goals and help foster an environment that supports teamwork and a positive work environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide studio coverage for weekday broadcast and remote broadcasting locations.
- Perform daily check of network spot loads.
- Troubleshoot component-level technical facilities, including but not limited to on-air studios, production equipment, servers, and applications.
- Install, configure, test, optimize, and repair broadcast and IT equipment and systems.
- Maintain flexible work hours to handle technical & operational emergencies as needed.
- Participate in the installation of new equipment.
- Monitor the technical quality of all studio operations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
- Schedule Engineering staff for Syndicated show coverage.
- Schedule remote studios for talent when they are traveling.
- Interface with station affiliates to troubleshoot satellite and or distribution problems.
- Plan and coordinate multiple daily remote feeds in addition to large remote broadcasts for various Reach Media programs and events as directed.
- Educate staff on proper equipment operation.
- Provide assistance/coverage for Radio One Engineers as needed.
- Travel and provide engineering responsibilities for remote broadcasts as needed.
- Other responsibilities as directed by management.
Requirements:
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills to work with diversified group of individuals including high profile talent.
- Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task, work independently and meet deadlines in a high pressured environment.
- Strong technical acumen with ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly.
- Wheatstone Routing and Broadcast Electronics Audio Vault Experience knowledge/experience desired.
- Experience with telephone systems including POTS, ISDN BRI & PRI, T1, and VOIP.
- IT skills including PC, server and LAN troubleshooting and repair and desktop support.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Flexible to work early morning or evening hours as assigned.
Experience/Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent, Associates degree or technical degree in the electronics field preferred.
- Experience working in a broadcast or network environment using broadcast audio routers, audio consoles, automation, ISDN and IP audio connectivity.
- SBE Certification preferred.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
Location: Dallas, TX.
Reports To: Director of Engineering
